Brandon Shamoun Named Pride Month Game Changers Honoree

Yzerman Outlines Red Wings' Plans

The Detroit Red Wings have released their preseason schedule for the 2024-25 season. The team will play a total of six preseason games, beginning with a home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on September 15. The Red Wings will then play two more home games, against the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins, before hitting the road for two games against the Chicago Blackhawks and the St. Louis Blues. The team will conclude its preseason schedule with a home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on October 4.

In addition to announcing their preseason schedule, the Red Wings also announced that forward Brandon Shamoun has been named a Pride Month Game Changers honoree. Shamoun is being recognized for his work with the You Can Play Project, which is a non-profit organization that works to create a safe and inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ athletes.

Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman also spoke to the media this week and outlined the team's plans for the upcoming season. Yzerman said that the team's goal is to make the playoffs, but that they will remain focused on developing their young players.
